What is a Down Do Prom Hairstyle?

For every teenager, there is nothing as exciting as the prom when it comes to their high school lives. Quite simply, it is something they will remember forever. For the girls in particular, it’s one of those rare occasions where they get to dress up and look their absolute best.

For the girls, the prom dress is only one part of a broader equation. They also have to think about what accessories, shoes, and jewelry will match their dresses perfectly. And of course, another big issue when it comes to the prom is the hairstyle. Every girl wants a hairstyle that is gorgeous and eye-catching, yet many girls do not know how to go about achieving their desired look.

Choosing a prom hairstyle is not as easy as it may seem. The decision must factor in things such as the shape of your face, your body type, and the type of hair you have (long, short, thin, frizzy, etc.). For example, if you have long, bushy hair, opting for a hair style that involves keeping your hair straight might be a challenge.

Another thing to keep in mind is that different hairstyles have different pros and cons, so it’s up to you to determine what tradeoffs you are willing to make. For example, updos are always fashionable when it comes to the prom, but on the downside they tend to be somewhat difficult and time consuming to prepare, and can be tricky to maintain throughout the entire night.

So, if you are concerned about the downsides of updos, why not do the opposite and try letting your hair down? This is often called a “down do.” Down do’s can look as elegant and sophisticated as updos if done right, and they take less time to prepare because you’ll simply let your hair down and make flowing strands to create a beautiful hairstyle that will match your dress. As an added bonus, you won't have to worry about your hair becoming undone when you dance.

Creating a down do is easy, and can be just as fashionable as your standard updo. You can style your hair with curls, or leave it straight and sleek, depending on your preference. You could also style the front part of your down do with off-center sweeps or with fringes to give a more relaxed and comfortable appearance. Female celebrities often sport these kinds of hairstyles, as they are easier to manage and give off a more relaxed yet elegant appearance.

The best way for you to know what kind of down do would work best is to pick out several styles a few days before the prom, and simply try them out. You can find plenty of options online or in fashion magazines. Experiment with the styles you like in order to see what looks more natural on you. This will help you decide what type of down do you should go for on your big night.
